47% of Arkansans are Stretched Far Too Thin
16% of households across Arkansas are living on wages below the federal poverty line, and another 31% of households are working hard - often two or three jobs - but can’t afford the basic necessities of life. We call them ALICE, and they are at the heart of our work in our Impact Areas.
United Way unleashes the caring power of Donors, Volunteers, Companies, Government, Foundations, Nonprofit organizations, and Changemakers because we know together, we can build a community where all can thrive.
With your support, Heart of Arkansas United Way creates opportunities for people in our community to prosper, and challenges the systems that hold people back.
Here's how:
Healthy Community
We prioritize the mental and emotional well-being of all by strengthening access to services and systems that foster healing and hope.
Youth Opportunity
We create pathways from early childhood through career to help young people achieve their potential and build successful, happy lives.
Financial Security
We believe everyone deserves the opportunity to earn a living wage. We expand access to education, tools, and job training for financial freedom and peace of mind.
Community Resiliency
We address urgent needs, from disaster relief to nonprofit capacity, by strategically mobilizing people and resources to serve our community today and in times of crisis.
