Meeting Needs Today and Building Capacity for the Future
Heart of Arkansas United Way is helping build a more resilient community by strategically mobilizing people and resources, including strengthening our nonprofit infrastructure, to meet the needs of our neighbors. And when disasters strike, we are there. Heart of Arkansas United Way has played a leading role in responding to large-scale incidents to help move our community toward recovery. Our strong network of partnerships enables us to stay ready and respond quickly when the unthinkable happens.
At-a-Glance: 2023 Tornadoes
- We partnered with the City of Little Rock to distribute $425,000 in grants to impacted residents with assistance from 70 community volunteers who helped review applications and approve funding.
- We are part of the Pulaski County Long-Term Recovery Committee, a collaborative group of nonprofits, foundations, churches, denominational groups, and city governments committed to meeting individuals' remaining needs, including new HVAC systems, replacement windows, and washer/dryer units.
Program Spotlight: Central Arkansas Nonprofit CEO Roundtable
Partnership is the core of successful nonprofit work. Beginning in 2021, we teamed with the American Red Cross in Arkansas to host a monthly Nonprofit CEO Roundtable. It’s a platform that facilitates information-sharing, capacity-building, and collaboration—all to serve the community more effectively. Community Resiliency for ALICE
ALICE is at the heart of everything we do because ALICE is the heart of our community. ALICE families are vulnerable not only to immediate crises, but also to the long-term ramifications of natural or man-made disasters. By building a network of committed partners, we ensure ALICE families have both the immediate resources and long-term support they need to recover and thrive. Meet ALICE in Arkansas.
