In a world where inflation and rising costs are squeezing wallets tighter than ever, a new program called ALICE@Work is stepping up to help Arkansas families and workers.
Mollie Palmer from Heart of Arkansas United Way and Jenn Morehead from the Arkansas Single Parent Scholarship Fund are championing this initiative to ensure everyone in the community can thrive.
"ALICE is all of our neighbors, all our friends, the people we work with every day who are working hard, often sometimes working two or three jobs, maybe doing gig work after hours and still coming up short at the end of the month," said Palmer.
Nearly half of the state, 44%, falls below the ALICE threshold, which is based on a bare-bones local cost of living.
The program partners with local businesses to address financial insecurity.
